Transport-to-Monitor SAP S/4HANA training
Control technical change from transport request through import, validation and operations monitoring.
Process overview and business context
Basis administration keeps the SAP landscape stable. Transport management, identity, jobs, monitoring and system conversion tasks must be handled as one controlled lifecycle.
Learners can explain how a change moves through a system landscape and how administrators verify the result.
End-to-end flow
- 1
Create transport request
SE09 / SE10Fiori app: Transport Organizer
ACDOCA impact: Captures changed repository or customizing objects.
- 2
Release request
SE10Fiori app: Transport Organizer
ACDOCA impact: Exports change files to transport directory.
- 3
Import to target
STMSFiori app: Transport Management System
ACDOCA impact: Applies change to quality or production system.
- 4
Validate jobs and logs
SM37 / SLG1Fiori app: Application Jobs; Application Log
ACDOCA impact: Confirms runtime and application health.
- 5
Monitor operations
ST22 / SM21 / Cloud ALMFiori app: SAP Cloud ALM Monitoring
ACDOCA impact: Detects dumps, system events and performance exceptions.
Key tables
| Table | Explanation |

Step-by-step walkthrough
Check landscape route
Confirm transport domain, route and import queue before release.
Watch out for: A good change can fail in the wrong target route.
Review transport content
Inspect objects and dependencies before import.
Watch out for: Missing dependent transport creates runtime errors later.
Import with evidence
Capture return code, logs and post-import checks.
Watch out for: A green import is not complete until the business function is validated.
Monitor after change
Check dumps, jobs, queues and interface logs after go-live.
Watch out for: Most production incidents are detected by monitoring, not by transport logs alone.
Common errors and troubleshooting
Transport import has return code 8
Likely cause: Syntax, object lock, dependency or activation issue.
Fix path: Open import log, fix dependency and re-import in sequence.
Background job fails after deployment
Likely cause: Variant, authorization or changed program logic is wrong.
Fix path: Check SM37 job log and application log.
User cannot access app
Likely cause: Business role, catalog or authorization assignment is missing.
Fix path: Review role assignment and Fiori catalog mapping.
ECC to S/4HANA differences
S/4HANA landscapes add HANA-specific monitoring, Fiori administration and conversion-readiness tasks, while core AS ABAP transport principles remain familiar.
